ANZAC Day

For those of you who don’t know, ANZAC Day is an Australian occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand troops during World War one. It is a day of remembrance for those who fought, and died in battle.

I was up bright and early this morning for the dawn service, so for today’s post… I thought I’d pay tribute to the ANZACs.

Lest we forget.

I was also up bright & early for the Dawn service in our little town. It’s a great tradition. I will return for the march at 10am but as it’s only 3 degrees outside I have crawled back into my warm bed for a bit. Nice pictures which depict what it’s all about. Lest we forget.

  13. The Aussies were pretty badass during WWI. The men wore those hats with the one side flipped up, just like you see in cartoons!

And you guys used the same rifle as us Canadians: the .303 Lee Enfield SMLE

Lest We Forget. My great great uncle fought in WWI, my grandfather fought in WW2, my uncle fought in Vietnam so I think of them today and all those that sacrificed so I could enjoy the freedom i have today.

As a Christian, Easter is the most important part of the year, but ANZAC Day is in second-place, May those who march, and those who can no longer, always be honoured. May God bless all who fight to maintain our freedom (and their families).

This is a very beautiful post. The photo of the memorial wall is astounding. I, myself, am a Veteran of the US Army Infantry and I can relate to the emotional, mental and physical toll war can have on one’s mind, body and soul.

    Again, very beautiful post.
