I swear I was just writing a post for my June goals… where is this year going? Is it me, or is this year passing by seriously fast?
In the middle of the year I always start thinking about what I need to achieve to make the year feel really special. Usually it’s a trip overseas but this year I need to build up some annual leave to do that, so instead…
I bought a car!!!! I pick her up on Friday π I’m very excited. I’ve never owned a brand new car before so I’m excited to drive something that belongs to me and me only. Yay!
Aside from enjoying my new car, my goals this month are to:
1. Work on my YA Fantasy – I have the plot worked out, sort of, so my goal is to start writing down bits and pieces to see where the characters take me. I’ve churned out two novels this year already, so with this one, I want to take my time. Really see where it goes organically.
2. Eat well – It’s winter. It’s cold. All I want is pies, sausage rolls, hot chocolate… unfortunately that generally means my pants get tighter. Stupid calories. So, this month I want to start eating well again. It will suck, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
3. Wait patiently for Summer – as a general rule, I don’t like winter much. I’m a summer baby, I’m a water baby. I much prefer wandering around in shorts and singlets than jeans and jumpers. As far as I’m concerned, winter sucks. Mainly because the days are so short and getting out of the shower when it’s cold, is bloody awful. So while I want this year to SLOW DOWN and stop zipping by before my eyes, I do want winter to be over π
What are your goals for theΒ month?
Make some headway on my next book, but since I’m lacking ideas on that right now, I need to invest more time in marketing/building my platform. Congrats on the new car! Does she have a name?

New cars are always fun! I’m trying Camp NaNo for the first time this month. It’s going to be intense, but I work best with deadlines so I think it will be a great help for me to finish my fist draft.

I have been picked by a publication (I’ll leave the name out for now) as a prospective writer for an annual release in December.
This is exciting, not only because it is a paid submission, but because it covers a specialty subject I love.
Most of all, if my pitch and submission make the cut, I get that much more exposure (and thus, my blog) . So my goal is: have a pitch so brilliant, they can’t possibly deny me the chance to volley.

Well done on the car. I got a new one also a wee while ago. It’s high summer in Scotland (as high as it gets!). Re the writing goals…as a teacher the demands of the job are such rest is necessary before even thinking of hitting the keys! I need to just write and complete (nodding toward the truism expressed in your excellent quote!) work. I have a number of bigger projects that need worked on as well as working on the short stuff-poetry and short stories etc.

Congrats on the new car! It’s kind of weird hearing about winter weather when it’s summer here in the U.S. now. Just today it was about 90 degrees (F) over where I live.
My book is coming out in July, so a lot of my focus is going to be on promoting it. As far as actual writing goes, that’s going to involve continuing my blog, writing a translation of my short story, and planning the story for my next book as well.

I LOVE the car!
July in Florida=frying outside by ten in the morning! Ugh! But it’s even worse when it’s actually cold in Florida (by cold, I mean below 40 degrees F) on account of the lack of good heating systems in a lot of our homes and businesses.
I’m starting Camp NaNoWriMo once again for July (as my April effort was an epic fail) for my second book’s draft. I need the 50k more words!

Ooh, new car! Congrats. π
As far as July goals go, I posted them last night, but in a nutshell I want to get myself immersed in and excited about my writing again. Which seems to be working since I decided to switch back to fantasy. I need to have one finished story by the end of the month, so I’m going on a plot-hunt very shortly. π

Good luck with that! It is funny reading about the winter in Australia. I knew it happened during our summer, but for some reason, reading about it, makes it real!

My writing goals for July is to be regular with the couple of series I am running on my blog currently and focus more on regular writing than the whimsical type. It really inspires me to see so many young authors. Someday, I wish to be one as well. π

I started a short story about a man committing suicide. I have a third of it done now, and it will be like 3,000 words when I’m done. It’s a series of snippets of reality, memories, and delusions/hallucinations pieced together to make a cohesive story, so it’s new territory for me. It’s fun to try something different π I want to finish another chapter of my fantasy story. And I’ll probably be applying for jobs this month, which is kind of scary since I haven’t been able to work for the past three years due to health issues.
Good luck with your story π I usually have the beginning and end of a story in mind, and I just write. It’s hard to plan because sometimes your characters do something different than you planned for, and my characters always win that battle XD
I’m also reading like 5 books right now, and would like to finish at least one of them this month, lol.

I would like to market my book better and get them copies more local bookstores. I’m not really sure how I’m going to market them farther than that. I’m self published and have no agent. I’m hoping word of mouth takes over, but you never know. In the mean time I have joined a weekly writing group, and next week my book’s sequel will be on the critique chopping block, and I’m still working on chapter one. By the end of July, I want to at least get two chapters done. I also am having computer problems, which is holding up my children’s picture book that I wanted to publish by August.

I love this. My goals are… well… to manage to write anything at all. The rest is gravy! Go you! And I hear you on the car. Suddenly aged 32 I decided it was time to buy a car that was less than 20 years old. It was a bit of an eye opener I can tell you. I couldn’t fix it by the side of the road (actually neither can anyone else it has this bottom thing so if you want to fix it up you have to jack it up, take its aluminium bottom off and… sorry tangent there). Where was I , I couldn’t fix it by the side of the road but because it was new I didn’t need to. Bliss. So have fun with that. π
Cheers

I like the idea of writing some goals out every month. I definitely need to commit to some writing goals. I started the 500 Word Writing Challenge the beginning of July, and I am loving having something specific to write about every day to keep me motivated. Once I finish this challenge, I will be looking for some other challenges/prompts to fill the months to come. I love your blog and will probably be going back and reading previous posts.
