What are your goals for September?

September is here! And if you’re in Australia with me that means Spring is here! Hello warmer weather and longer days! I kicked off my morning with a 40 minute power-walk, and I’ve been spring-cleaning for the past two days. *sighs happily* I love Spring. In a couple of months I’ll probably be complaining about the heat, but right now, there is a sense of new beginnings in the air, and I love it!

What are your goals for September? Mine are looking a little like this:

1. Shed my winter coat – as with every winter, hot chocolate and comfort food is always hard to resist, so I want to spend this month walking, eating well, and getting back into shape.

2. Continue to explore book blogging – as you guys have probably noticed, I’ve been posting book reviews lately and it’s something I want to continue. I’ve been lucky enough to be sent some ARCs from publishers and hopefully will continue to build that relationship and see where it goes.

So those are my two major goals. What are your plans for this month? Are you writing? Reading? Getting into shape like me? Or are you focusing on something completely different?

Seriously wondering if I could manage to move to Australia for the next two seasons… I actually love fall, the temperature tends to be just right for comfy clothes… but I hate knowing that soon I will wake up and go to work in the dark, work in a windowless office until lunch, hopefully get some sunlight during my lunch break, go back to the windowless office until time to go home…at which point it will again be dark.
Great goals! My goals for September… actually get as far ahead on my blog(s) as I have been saying I would all summer. And start looking at some of my other writing. Nice and broad goals… that I hopefully can accomplish!

  3. What is an ARC? Sounds like it must be a book… My September goal is to keep writing while traveling to visit family, to post something thoughtful on Twitter every day and to read all the books my mom recommends (she is a wide reader!)

I’m not usually big on goals – they wind up being roadblocks for me, but this time I think I have a few mile markers that are worth hitting. 1) Get my second book finished, so I can get it to the editor and beta readers. 2) keep up with classes – need those grades! 3) remember to hit the gym at least 4 times per week.

Yeah, I think my spare time just disappeared.

  7. Hi, Jodie,
Well, it is a wonderful rainy day to start off spring here in Melbourne. I’m inside, so I love the rain.
This month I plan to write and edit, and continue my healthy eating and fitness regime. Also, I plan to ease off on the tv viewing now that football season is over.

  9. It’s not so much of a goal, but I made the decision to take a month long break from academic writing during September. I have been working on project after project with barely any break since July 2013 and I feel that my brain can’t compute anymore.

So, September will be more TV, book and video game catch up, while I will keep blogging (expect more reviews) and I also hope to start writing some pieces for my upcoming short story series, since I did all the outlines during August!

  11. Well, my goal originally was to have a completed rough draft of the novel done. Or, close to done. Then, I put the first bit out for critique and now I think the goal is: rewrite the beginning few pages to make them readable and likeable.

Warmer weather in September? In the Philippines we get colder weather 😀 And it goes on until February or early March.
This month I plan to continue writing my story and read more books–there’s a pile of them in my room that I haven’t read yet! I also want to blog more regularly. Maybe I’ll be able to turn all those outlines into actual blog posts.

    Have an awesome September! 🙂

Oh, and continuing to work on my short stories.

  24. Amazing. For those of us in the northern part of the world we are seeing summer wind down. Last night we had tornadoes, winds and rain and it hit 93° F (34° C) during the day, but the leaves are beginning to show a little change of color. Soon the temperature will dip and we will be thinking of snow.

I am on the final read of my third novel and will have a proof reader/editor make a final read before getting ready to publish. I hope to be there by end of the mont.

I’m getting married on 28 September! My betrothed is a beautiful sweet woman who loves me and says she can put up with me 😉 forever. That is my primary goal for September.

    1. Australia is so beautiful. I must go there some day. But not this September, because the next two months are when Maine is the most beautiful place in the Solar System.
    2. I am going to finish “Homeward by Night” in the next two weeks. Then I am going to revise everything I’ve ever written, said, done, thought, etc.
    3. Classes start again—time to introduce another class of University of Maine at Farmington students to “Firefly” and “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
    4. Oh, yeah. And I am getting married! I am the luckiest person in the universe.

  28. I’m going to get my second book out in September. I’m going to read at least two books. And I’m going to seriously enhance my online presence, maybe start the website at last.
Even in the northern hemisphere, September can be thought of as a time of new beginnings. In the U.S., we start the new school year by now. September is often when the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, falls. I’m glad you are looking forward to spring. As a Floridian, I’m definitely looking forward to winter, even if it does get really crazy crowded here by January… 🙂

I have another short story due for Scripting Change on Sept 15: I am into the second draft. I also have a story I have been meaning to send out to Kindle for months. And I would like to get my Kittygirl story finished.

Also, I am applying for more technical writing gigs (c’mon, Weebly or YouTube, respond!).
