I’m currently in the middle of Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff. It’s really different to what I usually read. The chapters are short and snappy and the writing is very direct. It’s nice for a change.

I’m reading Zodiac by Neal Stephenson. It’s an “eco-thriller” about a quirky environmentalist who analyzes waste in the Boston Harbour and ends up pissing off the wrong people. If you like Sci-fi it’s really good! An older one but definitely a great witty read ๐

I just finished “Interesting Times” by Terry Pratchett. It features the feckless “wizzard” Rincewind and a horde of aged heroes led by Cohen the Barbarian. Now I’m on to Bart Ehrman’s “God’s Problem,” in the nonfiction category.

I’m reading, Catcher in the Rhye, A Song for Mother, and Pillars of the Earth. Why three books, you ask? It just depends where I am — car, bedroom, or study. That’s usually how I roll.

The Catcher In The Rye is my all-time favorite book by my all-time favorite author! I do hope you are enjoying it!
One word of advice: do be sure to read the first paragraph very carefully so as to understand where Holden is coming from (i.e. that he is not just some winey kid who needs to get over himself but a very intelligent youth battling a sever quandary). You will likely have picked up on that already, but having spent many an hour defending my favorite character against countless people who haven’t, I tend to suggest a closer reading out of habit. Pretentious, much? ๐

I am reading Eye Contact by Cammie Mc Govern. I actually met her. I drive for a limo company part time and she was my scheduled pickup. I met her at the airport and drove her to her home. On the way we talked about reading and writing and she told me she was a writer. I told her I was a aspiring writer. She told me about her book so went I went on line and ordered it and have been reading it.

I am reading the Song of Fire and Ice series. I have had it recommended to me by a number of people these last few months and I finally have the opportunity to delve into it. I am starting on A Clash Of Kings at the moment. I generally don’t like books that switch from one P.O.V to another, but this series is turning out to contain exceptions to the rule.

I’ve just started reading Amanda Hocking’s Trylle trilogy. I’m on the first book right now. She has a spin-off series coming out next year that sounds awesome, so that’s why I wanted to give the Trylle books a try.

Bolaรฑo is amazing. Even If you don’t like his his novels/poetry..it’s rare to find real writers now, publishers fear them, it’s a big risk..Just listening to his interviews are amazing..he was a real writer not a guy looking for a big hit to make the big money.

I am currently reading two excellent series in two very different genres. Escape is the first novel in Maria McKenzie’s Unchained Trilogy. The series starts in 1856 and ends in 1998. Maria specializes in writing about interracial relationships. I’m also reading Johsua Dalzelle’s sci-fi series Omega Force. I am currently reading the second in that series of 6 (the 6th one will be out soon from what I understand). I have read period novels before, but I hadn’t read sci-fi until now. I highly recommend both of these series. I’ve noticed a few typos and oopsies, but the stories and characters are interesting so I can overlook those. I’m still early in both series and most authors figure out they need an editor by the second or third novel, so I’m sure that will improve. The books are self-published, found on Amazon.
