What do you spend the most time doing?

I stumbled across this question somewhere in cyber space, and I thought it would be a good way to get to know everyone.

The question is – What are the top 5 things you spend the most time doing?
My answers would look something like this…

1. Working

Yup. It sucks that this has to be up the top of the list, but the truth is, I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. And while I love my work, and it enables me to live a nice life, I’d still rather have something else up here at number one.

2. Reading

Read, read, read. Read, read, read. I’ve been really lucky to forge some relationships with Aussie publishers who send me books to review, so… read, read, read 🙂 Loving it.

3. Social Butterfly Activities

I have a close group of friends who I see pretty often. We always seem to be at the pub having a few drinks, throwing BBQ’s, having movie nights, going out in the boat, going to the beach, etc. Recently I’ve started taking scrapbook classes with a friend from work too. Socialising is good, particularly when I spend so much time in front of the computer in my spare time.

4. Writing & Blogging

I’m linking these up together because they both require me to be in front of my Macbook. Obviously I blog a lot – I try to post every second day. And I’m about to start my third novel of the year, so yes… type, type, type. I find writing and blogging to be endlessly fulfilling.

5. Sleeping

Self explanatory. I love sleep 🙂 8 hours a night for me.

What are the top 5 things that you find yourself doing? And do you enjoy them?

  1. I would say my top 5 are:

    1. Working – I also have a 40 hr/week job.
    2. Serving at my church – This may as well be a second job, since I spend so much time there.
    3. Reading – I squeeze in time on weekends, before bed, during work breaks, standing in line…
    4. Hanging w/ the roomies – We watch a lot Survivor and Amazing Race and Big Brother.
    5. Playing video games – Skyrim, anyone?

    4. Parent.
    5. Pet cats.

More or less all of these overlap with generally being in love with Laura.

    1 – working, which is being a writer, so that’s a two-fer.
2 – Listening to my favourite music with headphones on, in the dark. No distractions, just me and the music.
3 – Having discussion on every topic under, and over, the sun with my wife.
4 – Getting a solid night’s sleep. My current ratio is 3 out of every 7 nights.
5 – Watching thunderstorms, from somewhere safe and dry.

  6. At the moment:
    1. Uni Studies (pace at 200%)
    2. Skype with my GF who loves on he other side of the Atlantic for now.
    3. Research, for my studies and my writing.
    4. Reading
    5. Writing

I’d like to be able to reorganize that list but for now it’s stuck as is. Such is life. 🙂

  7. 1. Work
I work a lot… I’m technically on vacation and I’m still working, haha.
    2. Sleep
Yes, after working the night shift for almost an entire month my sleep schedule got all messed up! Loving the free time to sleep in now though.
    3. TV
Catching up on TV. I’ve been separated from my significant other for the majority of the year, but now that we are back together we are spending most, if not all, our spare time catching up on TV shows we’ve been wanting to watch! We are currently watching Game of Thrones!
    4. Workout
I figured I put this on here. Three times a week, 40 minutes minimum. Love Pilates and an evening stroll.
    5. My Blog
Well… I have limited access to the internet so my blogging has been pretty dismal as of late, but I still love coming on here every chance I get to check out some other bloggers and maybe make a quick post of my own. I’m just so busy relaxing I haven’t had time to post anything, hahaha. 😉

    1. The mundane: house stuff, taking care of my family(cooking, wash) etc. paying bills
    2. work: I also hate that this is toward the top of my list
    3. entertainment and exercise: This goes from anything to walking the dog, hiking to watching Reign on TV
    4. Reading and writing: I do a fair amount of both, but not enough.
    5. Faith related stuff: church, reading Bible, praying. I’m glad this is on my list. Just don’t think it should be so near to the bottom of my life.

  13. Love this! Let’s see – my list is a bit hard to come up with, but I think it would go something like this:

    1. Sleeping
I think I probably spend the most hours on one activity in bed (at least trying to sleep!).

    2. Reading/Blogging
This is probably next on my list. I read A LOT. These two things are pretty intertwined, so I just put them together.

    4. Homeschooling
You’d think that this would be higher than reading/blogging, but the truth is that I often read or blog while the kids are working on certain things independently.

    5. Editing
This one is tricky because I’m a part-time freelance editor. When I have an editing project, this might actually pop up to number one or two on some days, but I think it’s lower overall.

Hmmm … then there’s just hanging out with my family, which takes up a lot of my weekend time. Probably should have put that up there somewhere. LOL!
