What inspires you to recommend a book?
For me, it’s all about “the feels“.

Then I’m going to be recommending it to everyone I know who likes to read! Usually those emotions are brought on by characters and the way they interact with each other, so a novel definitely needs to have amazing characters to get my attention.
What inspires you to recommend a novel?
Words Read & Written 
How fast I read it is a good indicator. If I find I’m still reading it at 1 a.m., very likely I’ll recommend it. Signs I’ll never recommend it:
(1) Politically correct content; (2) Inconsistent characters ; (3) Many writing errors; (4) Glaring errors in fact; (5) Bad ending; (6) Lack of clarity.

Very true! It’s funny how you can devour some books and others you can pick up and put down for days.

That’s a good question. I think mainly I agree with you. Also, though I suppose this goes without saying, great writing.

Yes, great writing is on my list, though certainly not a deal-breaker. On the heels of this, interesting and unexpected word choice is a plus. Not to mention creativity, originality and cleverness. And like you said, the emotions the author invokes through the characters. But above all else, the characters MUST be fully, or at least decently, developed. I NEED maturity, growth!!

Characters that I fall in love with (or come to hate because they’re sooo well-written and I can’t wait to see them get what’s coming to them), placed into exciting or dramatic interactions with or against each other, followed by fun twists and turns I should have seen coming but somehow didn’t.
If I walk away thinking about the book, I will recommend that book. If I find it easy to set aside, I’ll be lucky to finish it, let alone recommend it to others.

Haha, yes, the feels are basically what will do it for me as well. If I’m flailing around my house wanting to talk to someone about it, I will tell everyone about it until someone reads it to shut me up! Luckily, my reading friends have similar tastes to me so they usually enjoy the same things anyway.
